The Gardeners of the Temple gather four times a year to celebrate the start of each new season, holding ceremonies at the solstices and equinoxes. Each event begins with the preparation of a symbolic garden - indoors or outdoors - followed by an opening ritual and a seasonal ceremony, unique to that time of year: summer solstice, autumn equinox, winter solstice, or spring equinox.
Following the ceremony, the Gardeners present "seedlings," or "harvests" to the gathered gardeners and visitors. These are written contributions of varying lengths, a list of which is shared with all attendees prior to the event.
The "harvest," similar to a Masonic “plank,” serves as a focal point for discussion and reflection among Free Gardeners, as does the "seedling," equivalent to a symbolic moment of insight or inspiration.
